sensitive claims design submissions

Mā te mōhio, ka mārama;

Mā te mārama, ka mātau;

Mā te mātau, ka ora.

From listening comes knowledge; from knowledge comes understanding;

From understanding comes wisdom; from wisdom comes well-being.

Kia ora tātou,

The Ministry of Education is committed to improving its alternative dispute resolution sensitive claims process and would like to hear from survivors on the draft design. Your voices and experience are essential to shaping this process.

The Tūhono Collective has been contracted by the Ministry of Education to help design the process. This work is based on publicly available information about survivor’s experiences of redress in Aotearoa as well as the Tūhono Collective’s own experience as mediators and developers of alternative dispute resolution processes.

The Tūhono Collective will lead the engagement and we are inviting you to participate, specifically those who:

  • have experienced the Ministry of Education’s sensitive claims process, or may do in the future.

  • identify as Māori and Pacific.

  • are survivors and advocates who want to share their thoughts and feedback.

We welcome anyone who wants to contribute to this important work. Whether or not you identify with one or more of these groups, your voice matters.

This platform has been set-up to receive written submissions on the draft design.

Your participation will be valued and compensated. Tūhono will work with those interested in participating about what works best for them.

This work is separate from the work that the Crown Response Unit is undertaking on a wider redress system.

If you’re interested in participating, please submit your response using the submission forms below, by 19 July 2024. You can also email your submission to us at admin@laidlaw.co.nz
